Wheeler Opera House
"Thirty six years ago, March 17, 1893, a wisk of smoke was seen coming from the roof of a building at Monroe and St. Clair streets. And later that day Toledoans larned that the Wheeler opera house, pride of the city, had burned. This is a picture of the building. The fire followed the vacation of the theater, March 16, 1893, by Thatcher's Tuxedo Minstrels. Manager Joe Pearlstein of Keith's theater still has a diagram of the Wheeler, showing the seating arrangement of the theater".
