Piravam Puncha

Piravam puncha (i.e., rice paddy) was the bread basket of much of the area when I grew up. Its economic importance has diminished somewhat due to the popularity of cash crops such as Rubber. Thank God that Rubber does not grow on rice paddies! This picture was taken from the Piravam-Kottayam road, north of Karinkallichira. I think, the hills in the background is Kannuty Mala.
